Today I landed the biggest fish of my life. Had it on the line while in the boat so technically it counts as being caught. I caught on a small 1/8th ounce jig w/ no grub, twister tail, lizard, or anything. I hooked him good right in the lip. It was a quite a booger to get out. I’ve never seen a fish in so much pain. I asked Nate if he could try and get the hook out. He looked back at me and said, ” Umm It’s past the barb I dont think i can get it out.” So me being the manly guy that I am, cut the link, grabbed the lip, and yanked really hard. It didn’t come out the first time, and the fish looked like it was really in pain. The next time I grabbed the lip tightly right by where the barb was stuck and pulled even harder yet. With a little skill, and a bit of muscle I got it out. And surprisingly enough the fish was barely bleeding! I didn’t have a chance to weigh it but from the looks of it it was probably upwards of 150lbs!! I’m not exactly sure what kind of fish it was. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It was long, kinda pale, and it almost looked as if it had hair, redish colored whiskers, and it was surprisingly calm when it got hooked. Unfortunately we didn’t think to take a picture of it w/ the hook in it’s mouth… Which is probably good because the fish would of probably been embarrassed, although it would of been a great picture to have. Well after that ordeal was over with we continued to fish as if nothing had happened. Fortunately i didn’t catch any more “big fish” the rest of the day.
